Dennis Kontra, M.D.
Dr. Kontra was born and raised in the Cleveland, Ohio area. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Northwestern University after his undergraduate program at Dartmouth College. He completed both an internship and residency in internal medicine at the Milwaukee County Hospital. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at Marquette University.

Karen Shimshak, M.D.
Born and raised in the Milwaukee area, Dr. Shimshak received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin after her undergraduate program at Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa. Dr. Shimshak completed her medical school and ophthalmology residency training at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1989, with additional fellowship training at Indiana University and Johns Hopkins. She maintained her private practice in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus with academic teaching appointments while in Kansas City and Cincinnati. Most recently, she was a research medical director with Procter & Gamble. Dr. Shimshak joins our practice with extensive experience to provide personalized, compassionate care for you and your children's medical and surgical eye care needs.

Daryl Kruse, O.D.
Dr. Daryl Kruse, born and raised in Inwood, Iowa, received his O.D. from Illinois College of Optometry after obtaining his B.S. from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. For over 15 years, Dr. Daryl Kruse has been practicing with D.J. Kontra, M.D. & Associates. He is involved with the treatment and management of eye diseases, the fitting of contact lenses and providing comprehensive eye examinations. Dr. Kruse is available to assist you with all of your eye care needs.
